Cold Case of Clarity

I recently received a brainwave after watching 'BritPopPrincess' youtube video on getting your mojo back and 'Sincerely Oghosa' video on her renewed purpose driven life.
I was in an on-again, off-again rut for a while, and its been a gradual progression from the abyss, but I am firmly above shore now. The fattest change I personally made was relinquishing charge over my life and allowing (in the words of Carrie Underwood) jesus take the wheel. One of the biggest game-changers in the grand scheme of things, was resolving to be content with every position I was placed in life. That’s HARD as hell! You try failing a topic or losing a boyfriend and keeping that smile on your face. I'm still learning, so bear with me. But the biggest lesson to learn is that contentment does not equate to happiness. In reference to the end of a relationship? Seeing that experience as a learning curve, and understanding that it is a platform for the betterment of oneself, is just ONE way of being content. I can always BLEURGH on the in's and out's of overcoming a breakup in another post, but for the time-being…

In the funk that I was in, I found that it transcended into every aspect of my life. From my grouchy persona, to my drabby sense of style, not to mention my bland as milk daily makeup *BLEURGH!* As superficial as it all sounds, I think the way I felt emanated through to my exterior, and did not stop short at stifling my usually quirky personality. I was once bullied, and this makes me susceptible to belittling myself, or according far too much weight to other people’s perceptions of me than is necessary. I’m sure fellow bully-ees will concur? This meant that I let their words affect the way I thought of myself, and that in turn, affected the way I carried myself, which full-circle made me more amenable to further attack from ‘haters’ (or the devil, depending on your spiritual mindset). I lost my mojo, in essence.

So let me divulge how this Stella got her groove back. I have, in the past, shed light on how I dug my grades up from the gutters of a 3rd to graduate with a 2.1. I have even divulged the [not so] secrets of working a room at networking events if you’re usually shy, in order to acquire the much sought after opportunities you desire. Now…its time for me to bring some of those skills together, and share how you can dig it ALL up, from your look to your grades to your love life…in order to achieve SUCCESS!

1. Discover what/ who your mojo thief is?
This could be a ‘friend’, colleague or even a job. You cannot eliminate the problem without first discovering what’s dampening your chances of success, or bringing you down.
2. Draft an ACTION PLAN
As cliché and ‘self-help’ as it sounds, it WORKS! I’m a strong believer in writing things down. So draw up a step-by-step plan, first tackling what the issue is, why you’re in that situation, and how best to extinguish that issue. This can be in the form of a SWOT analysis, or a STAR (interview technique; situation/ task, action and resolution) plan.
3. Take the first step
Its relatively easy to draw up a plan and even envision the end result, but looking at the plan and all the necessary steps one must take in its entirety can be overwhelming. The best thing to do is take it step-by-step. Whatever step one may be from spring cleaning your wardrobe to seeking advice from your University’ Careers’ Counsellor…take that giant leap of faith! That’s the only way to get the ball rolling
4. Retreat to your source
Whether its the God you believe in (which I strongly advocate as a Christian) or your inner Chi, be sure to always seek a source of guidance or clarity ‘cos the route to Mojoville sure does get mukky. Its never all smooth-sailing. Remember what Mother said about “nothing in life comes easy, and if it does, it won’t last”? You always need to go back to your source and re-evaluate your ultimate goal…ensure you’re walking along the right path.
5. Watch it work
That is NOT to say take a backseat and expect God to work miracles on unstable foundation. I grew up on the premise that you do your best and leave the rest to God. So keep carrying out your action plan, always drawing back to the source, and I assure you it will all work out for good in the end. I’m living proof of it.
