From Blog World to Real World

Hola Bleurgher Boos! Fresh from a fun-filled weekend! My stint in London is over....for now. Back in Manchester to round up final graduation plans in time for Thursday....EEEK! So excited you wont even believe it!

On Friday, I met up with some lovely bloggers for a day-out in London! I was hella excited to meet them & initially, I thought it'd be a tad weird seeing people in 3-D that I'd blog-stalked and probably could recite each item in their wardrobe (ok I'll stop, this is starting to sound a tad stalkerish *quiver*)...but it was actually SO cool! At the end, we were all joking and cracking up with eachother like we'd grown up in the same surburban neighbourhood since our terrible-two's.
It was SO funny sharing blogger tales and teasing each other's signature blogger poses. These girls are so cute and cool....I had a lot of fun x
 Left : Dami from www.trashygobs.blogspot.com
After a spot of retail indulgence here and there on the highstreet (thank GOD they visited the vintage stores before I got there *hurl*), we went to Vapiano for some much needed grubs on Italian delights.
Clockwise from left : Lola from www.pastimebliss.blogspot.com; Jenn from www.fashiionadore.com; Jen from www.jjnoir.blogspot.com & Lolade from www.lollihearts.co.uk
Top Right : Anne from www.tailorsstitch.com
Bottom Right : Tomi from www.stepford-wife.com
Made a video of our time together so be sure to check it out & like on youtube! X
Can't wait for the next meetup & hopefully, I'll get to meet more lovely bloggers. Be sure to check out their blogs and their posts and accounts of the meet.....gotta show my girls some love xisses
I LOVED what they were all wearing! Unfortunately, I didn't envisage staying in London that long so did not pack anything remotely fashionable with me *sigh*...so bear with my attire. PLEASE! LOL

Onyxsta says...BLEURGH!! Lovely meeting girls from the Blogworld in the real world...Xisses

Summer Wishes...

Currently sitting my final papers so that should explain why I've been so M.I.A. Thanks for all the support on the 1st Round of the BLEURGH Store. More things coming soon, so keep one eye open. Figured I'd get a post out there cos I really missed blogging. I'm SO stressed right now so kinda using this as a de-stresser before getting back to the hard-knock-life *sigh*

Here's a list of things I've been lusting after  but I am still yet to get.....

1. Gold Michael Kors Watch - I've been wanting this for a while now...but I think I wear more gold than silver and it makes perfect sense for summer (BIRTHDAY GIFT)

2. Sleeveless Denim Jacket - Am I the only one infatuated with Tinie Tempah's style? (Claim to Fame - I met his mum and BEGGED it to the max last summer as she was at my flatmate's bbq. Asked her if she wanted a drink in Igbo & willingly took part in Ekeitte runs to further my chances of becoming his future wife). This jacket is an ode to his style and his cats roaming the streets....I love this look with khaki or tan shorts and a white tank

3. Ray Ban Wayfarers - I want Ray Bans!!! The shape of the wayfarers are THE most flattering on the face & I feel like everyone needs a classic pair in their collection (BOUGHT!!)

4. Black & Leopard Loafers - I missed the chance to bag these bubbas in New Look, cos I was fasting from shopping over Lent, so now I'm on the prowl for a pair that come as close to those beauties as I can (BOUGHT!!)

5. Flat Top Hat - I REALLY love this accesory on short hair, and as that's what I'll be rocking this summer, it seems only right to add one of these boos to my headcandy collection. I've seen a few I like in TopShop, but on the look-out for a better bargain and unique piece

6. Ear Cuff - I have ALWAYS wanted another piercing for like...forever! But I'm a tad cautious cos I'm going into an academic profession and don't really want further things acting as barriers to job prospects...you know? So I'm ALL FOR ear-cuffs!! I love the spinal ones that curl all around the ear...and it looks GREAT on short hair....(see the trend guys?)

7. Basque - I am all for accentuating the womanly figure and 'underwear as outerwear' is back again this season with lace, chiffon and silk materials all the rage in stores. This piece was actually inspired by one of my BLEURGHsessions, I Heart Vintage....I'm on the look out for plainer pieces that can be worn both day and night time (BOUGHT!)

8. Denim Cut-off Shorts - I lost a bit of weight on my thighs (thank GOD cos those thunder thighs were causing earthquakes) and my waist so i really wanna embrace this trend this summer. Been on the prowl but most are either too tight on the thighs and too loose on the waist or just plain wrong...(B.I.Y!!)

9. Nail Rings - I only JUST fell in love with this after watching my new Youtube BLEURGHsession (Nice Round Brown) go on about stars rockin' this, and since then, I've been hunting these goons like a mutherrrr

10. Ankara Wedges - I know everyone and their grandma went ON about the ALDO court-like wedges like a lightyear ago, but I really was NOT feeling them....until I see these tatas!! Like...come ON! Freakin' angelic beasts! J'adore!!

Some Sundays = BLEURGHday

Ok so the idea of a 'Sunday Shares' blew up in smoke cos I was never born to stick to routine... spontaneity is my middle name (not literally ofcourse). Anyway, I've decided to make this post an any Sunday kinda thing...when I can, is the point I'm tryna make. LOL

Soundtrack of the Minute - White Lies : Chipmunk ft Kalenna (Dirty Money)

  • Loving all the love I received about the haircut! I have to say, I was super nervous for a WHILE, but now I'm used to it and I really like it now. Gonna take the advice some of you guys gave and will be adding tracks in soon *grins like a goon*
  • My Youtube is growing and I have SO many plans in store. Most importantly, gonna be launching the first items for the eBLEURGHBay (BLEURGH Shop on eBay) on Tuesday at 2pm....so make sure you all take your place and place your bids! REALLY excited as I made the final edits of the lookbook yesterday and have rounded up all the items to sell...you guys will obviously be getting the 1st preview and 1st dibs as loyal followers! I really want my babies to be adopted to loving and great homes :)
  • Also, seems The Toni Cut has been really popular, and Youtube offered to make it a partner video. Sadly, cos I had an unauthorised soundtrack (yes, I'm bootleg like that LOL), it didn't make the cut.
  • Actually been having a bad week as on deadline day, I credited my printing account with a whole £20 note, which I learnt the hard way, was non-refundable. So now...with less than a month left in Uni, I have to either trade that shiz or I dunno...print just about ANYTHING I can on this earth! *sigh* Also, the day I was running around tryna sort out some Uni-ish...I did a TON of work in the lib (for my Twitter followers, what I constantly refer to as 'Johnnie' aka John Rylands Library). Thinking I saved it all on my USB, I traipsed home early, wasted the night as I was ahead of plan....oh no! The next morning, I discover that not only is it NOT on the USB, but it wasn't saved on Johnnie's system either!!! BLEURGH!
  • Brought back 'Soundtrack of the Minute' cos for a while, I'd been MIA on the music front. But its revision season and I need hott beats in my ear! What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good beat (pun UNintended...get your minds out of the gutter! LOL). I am currently BLEURGHsessed with the track above. Thought to make it easier for you guys & instead of linking to youtube, I placed the bar above....so, by all means, rape that bar!!
Onyxsta says...BLEURGH!! To the books by my side, the articles on my screen & not forgetting the tunes in my ear? BLEURGH!! Xisses

BLEURGHsession : Celeb Style

**Soundtrack of the Minute - Automatic : Aubrey O'Day**
Hola Bleurgher-Boos! Blanche has been rather sluggish lately so I decided to give her a lil detox by deleting the things I don't really need or apps I don't really use anymore. One of the things that ended up in the bin was my collection of 'Celeb Fashion Inspiration' that i'd been compiling for as long as FOREVER! I used to make collages of teen trends from child stars like Raven Symone or the Olsen Twins and replicate the looks like the sports jersey bellytops or the flat paperboy caps in '04...oh dear!
I've realised that I don't sit infront of my screen going through look-by-look to decide what to wear in the mornings anymore, and when I do, I tend to log on to LookBook or blogs as my source of fashion inspiration. Before I bid adieu to all my faves and greats, I wanted to share my Top 5 Celeb-Style BLEURGHsessions! I picked my faves and made collages for you guys' entertainment...as you'll see, my style inspirations have classy, girly yet edgy styles. I'm not really into the boho-hobo Alexa Chung philosophy of having "an allergy to looking too neat". I like looking neat and put-together...
1. Lauren Conrad
I love her laid-back Cali-style with the mix of a simple tank/ tee teamed with a bright or patterned skirt or skinnies, not forgetting her staple sunnies.
2. Kardashians
Kim Kardashian is the obvious choice of most as she's the one in the public eye the most. Monica Rose (their stylist) had them in black for THE longest but I love Kim's Autumn/Winter wardrobe best where she tends to wear a LOT of tan, camel and fur pieces.
Kourtney Kardashian has style is just THAT much more my taste. Her love for patterns, different fabrics and COLOUR are what I aim to embody in my wardrobe. Her style is so classy and sophisticated
3. Rihanna
From her ever changing hairstyles to her ever-firm fashionable balls...she just doesn't give a s**t, she will take all risks. I love the silhouettes she creates with her outfits, there's always emphasis on her waist and the hemline is always so flattering to her model-like legs.
4. Coleen Rooney
I fell in love with this Puddie-lass since her 1st season of 'Coleen's Real Women'. Her style is very simple and formal, with a few flirty details (chiffon bows or frilly florals) chucked in the mix.
5. Olivia Palermo
I only recently started falling in love with Olivia's style as I'm a reality TV fanatic and she was NOT the fondest of characters in The City. I love her strong structured shouldered jackets and the formality of her casual outfits, like every piece is making a statement.

Onyxsta says...BLEURGH!! As my style changes, time to wave farewell to the old and move on to the new, shedding old database baggage as well. Xisses

Live Your Life

I was moved yesterday by a blog post by one of my BLEURGHsessions, Shirley from Meek-n-Mild, about the progress she had made since high school where she was bullied and teased. As you know, I'm a very secretive person with trust issues, and that's because in the past, I also went through quite a similar ordeal. I wasn't as brave as she was to pinpoint the perpetrators to a member of staff (I did tell the Assistant Headteacher who was friendly with my mother) after an issue concerning it, escalated to the point it affected my studies and productivity in class. It went on for long enough until members of my family started to notice changes in my behaviour (unwarranted moodiness and depression- a term my mother was not a fan of) and my mother sat me down to give me one of the most moving talks of my life thus far.
I guess, to say I'm totally over my insecurities would be a lie. I still have 'ugly days', quite like any other girl. But I am a lot stronger coming from that, thanks to the strength and support of good friends and family. Friends were the main issue back then 'cos I didn't have people I could trust and confide in, and the problems got worse and I felt lonelier every day. To come from that to a day when I can point out the people I know will be at my funeral is a beautiful thing, and I'm truly thankful to God for that.
The reason I'm writing this is not to seek sympathy from my readers and subscribers, or to follow Shirley like a shadow, but to highlight the problems Bloggers face atm. We are not machines or immune to criticism. BLEURGH is meant to be a platform for free speech, quite like the aim of the internet in general. But for Anonymous scribers to write hateful comments about me, my looks or my family is just unnecessary.
I'm happy i've genuinely reached a point in my life where scornful words spat out to spite or hurt me, bear no effect on me. What I do feel, is sad and sorry for young bloggers who genuinely wish to share their craft and joys with the world and instead, are faced with bitter online-bullies...just stop! I live my life for me and no one else...if you don't like what you see, please DO NOT READ my BLEURGH or WATCH my Vleurghs...simples!

Onyxsta says...BLEURGH!! Life is like a coin, you can only spend it once, so make the splurge worth it. Xisses

Bristol & Back

I went on a mini-roadtrip (does it count as a roadtrip if I went solo by train?) to Bristol...yer thats a 3hr+ train journey from Manchester....for my friend's Graduation the other day. It dawned on me the night before that this would be the 1st long commute without Blanche (My MacBook) and I wanted to come as prepared as ever as I bore easy, and have the attention span of an ant.
Arm Candy of choice : Black Leather Satchel from Oasis
(Only £15 in the sale - £13 with a student discount)
 Gizmo Geek
Without Blanche I needed other forms of entertainment...I don't leave ANYWHERE without my iPhone4 and Blackberry...addict! Also packed my Fujifilm digital camera, which came in handy as they only had their phones and forgot a camera for I was Perez for the day LOL. Also HAD to bring my Nintendo DSi which i have neglected of late *bows head in shame*. The wires are the iPhone USB and BB USB (as my BB no longer charges from the mains adapter) and the Apple USB head.
 Literature
HEAT Magazine - which I actually pinched from the seat beside me after the lady was kind enough to leave it there. The Graduation booklet & an old edition of Marie Claire that I also pinched from my eyebrow threading parlour...don't judge me. lastly, the Lauren Conrad - LA Candy (Christmas pressie) novel

Bare Necessities
DKNY Purse that holds all my essentials from lipgloss to DSi cartridges.
My card wallet (which was actually my ex's...ahh well! One good thing came from that breakup LOL) that literally holds about £300 worth of cards...I seriously fear everytime I think I've lost it!
DELL mint case.
Oriental woven mirror - a gift from my cousin from America
iPod (I'm a music freak) and Tissues lol
 Blazer : H&M | Snood : H&M | Fingerless Gloves : Dorothy Perkins | Satchel : Oasis
Dress : Urban Outfitters | Heels : Miss Selfridge
The ceremony was beautiful! Although, tbh I spent most my time yawning and blog-hopping my BLEURGHsessions' coverage of LFW and the LOOK Show lol *blush*
Went to dinner at this Chinese Buffet called Flavour Z and I fell in LOVE!
First time ever indulging in a live cooking station! The prep and meal was fabulous. This was actually my 2nd main after a pancake wrap of beef and lamb in satay and black bean...I'm a foodie!
The dessert at this place was to DIE11 OMG! I was so tempted that I induged in 2 plates although my eyes were hungrier than my belly and I ended up not finishing the plate on the right. But OMG....it was a beaut of a finisher :)

My First Ever HAUL!

I'm so excited cos the weather is really heating up and spring is here!! EEK!! I've newly become BLEURGHsessed with YouTube vloggers...my fave guilty pleasure is watching people's "My Perfect Imperfections". Anyway, as you know, I'm a shoppaholic! And since exams, I haven't really taken the time out to pay my friends (known to others as store garments and sales assistants) a little visit. By little...well, I don't mean little at ALL!

Here's my first ever VLEURGH documenting my haul...hope you guys like my purchases! Be sure to let me know if I listed anything and didn't name the store or price and you wanted to know? Also, I captioned the spring trends, so be sure to keep an eye out and tell me your best pieces :)

Don't hesitate to 'rate', 'like' and 'comment' the video bleurgher-boos! (Really sad cos I'm meant to be at my friend's fashion show atm but so much has happened to lemme know that dude...you need to get your life in check!)

Onyxsta says...BLEURGH!! In the words of my fellow shoppaholic **Toy-Toy, "shopping is a necessity, food can be compromised". Xisses

Since You've Been Gone...

So as you know, I had the first part of my finals in January and had to take THE  longest break ever from bleurghing...and BOY oh BOY did I miss tapping away on Blanche filling you bubbas in on the ins and outs of life through my non-20/20 eyes LOL
This post is dedicated to things I missed and did in the time I was away. Its probably gonna be the longest post EVER but hope it keeps you entertained! :)
BLEURGHSESSIONS
Although I stopped bleurghing, I am obsessed with Blogger that I couldn't quite stay away from my fave BLEURGHsessions! The ones that kept me going through the exam stress had to be 'Black Girls Are Easy' (hilarious stuff! Posted this on my twitter - @onyxsta - cos I was laughing so hard on the bus when reading the 'Men Choose, Women Settle' piece that the other passengers were giving me the 'loco, lock her up in a psychi-ward' glare). And my FAVE female quad-bloggers '4Aces' made an EPIC return to blogging....*sigh of relief*....oh how I missed them!
Neck Candy : H&M | Jumper : MK One | Skirt : H&M
(I apologise for the mess and indoor pics but exams had me hibernating...*sigh*)
MUSIC WHILE YOU WAIT
One thing that definitely helps me relax, party, zone out...anything really, is MUSIC! I am a lyric freak (as you know) and from now on, the *Soundtrack of the Minute* posted at the top will have a link to the song via YouTube :)
But anyway, I thought I'd share a snippet of my revision playlist with you guys:

  • Drake: I'm Ready For Ya
  • Chipmunk ft Chris Brown: Champion
  • Dr Dre: KUSH
  • Fantasia: Even Angels

  • Jazmine Sullivan: 10 Seconds | Stuttering | Luv Back | Excuse Me

Fur Head Candy : Primark | Fur Collar : Etam (detached from an OLD cardigan that got ruined in the wash)
Neck Candy : ?? (Detached from an OLD clutch) | Jumper : H&M | Wellies : Hunter
ZODIAC FREAK
I'm not one to stalk my star sign (Scorpio for those that care to know) daily trying to figure out why this happened or what cosmic synergy occured that prompted so-and-so to act the way they did....blah! But I wont deny the fact that when I go past the horoscope page in a magazine, I read it religiously.....or believe in the crappy superstition that you can't read another person's star sign etc. And as the secretive, sassy, complicated female that I am, I have been one to be pigeon-holed in the characteristics of a typical scorpio. So when I heard that there was an extra sign and all of a sudden I wasn't a scorpio anymore....erm....say what?? LOL...NO!
Head Candy : **Stolen from my cousin Charmz | Jacket : 18th Birthday gift from **8Baller **IzzI
Knitted Dress : Topshop | Longsleeve Top : Primark | Checkered Shorts : Republic | Knee High Boots : USC
Finger Candy : Bonita's | Arm Candy : Miss Selfridge bands; GUESS Watch
INDEPENDENT BLOGGER
I joined the Independent Bloggers as you can see from the badge on the top right of the page....I'm so excited to broaden the audience of BLEURGH! And as the readership and fanbase keeps growing, I want to venture into new things. As you know, I have a voice and hate being caged or typecasted into one box. So this year I want to upload 'Haul' YouTube videos, guest write or feature on other blogs, review different products and places....can't wait!
Neck Candy : **Hand-me-down from Grandma | Coat : Littlewoods Direct | Oxford Brogues : Deichmann
Cardigan : Primark (Mens' Wear) | Skirt : Vero Moda
