BLEURGHsession : Celeb Style

**Soundtrack of the Minute - Automatic : Aubrey O'Day**
Hola Bleurgher-Boos! Blanche has been rather sluggish lately so I decided to give her a lil detox by deleting the things I don't really need or apps I don't really use anymore. One of the things that ended up in the bin was my collection of 'Celeb Fashion Inspiration' that i'd been compiling for as long as FOREVER! I used to make collages of teen trends from child stars like Raven Symone or the Olsen Twins and replicate the looks like the sports jersey bellytops or the flat paperboy caps in '04...oh dear!
I've realised that I don't sit infront of my screen going through look-by-look to decide what to wear in the mornings anymore, and when I do, I tend to log on to LookBook or blogs as my source of fashion inspiration. Before I bid adieu to all my faves and greats, I wanted to share my Top 5 Celeb-Style BLEURGHsessions! I picked my faves and made collages for you guys' entertainment...as you'll see, my style inspirations have classy, girly yet edgy styles. I'm not really into the boho-hobo Alexa Chung philosophy of having "an allergy to looking too neat". I like looking neat and put-together...
1. Lauren Conrad
I love her laid-back Cali-style with the mix of a simple tank/ tee teamed with a bright or patterned skirt or skinnies, not forgetting her staple sunnies.
2. Kardashians
Kim Kardashian is the obvious choice of most as she's the one in the public eye the most. Monica Rose (their stylist) had them in black for THE longest but I love Kim's Autumn/Winter wardrobe best where she tends to wear a LOT of tan, camel and fur pieces.
Kourtney Kardashian has style is just THAT much more my taste. Her love for patterns, different fabrics and COLOUR are what I aim to embody in my wardrobe. Her style is so classy and sophisticated
3. Rihanna
From her ever changing hairstyles to her ever-firm fashionable balls...she just doesn't give a s**t, she will take all risks. I love the silhouettes she creates with her outfits, there's always emphasis on her waist and the hemline is always so flattering to her model-like legs.
4. Coleen Rooney
I fell in love with this Puddie-lass since her 1st season of 'Coleen's Real Women'. Her style is very simple and formal, with a few flirty details (chiffon bows or frilly florals) chucked in the mix.
5. Olivia Palermo
I only recently started falling in love with Olivia's style as I'm a reality TV fanatic and she was NOT the fondest of characters in The City. I love her strong structured shouldered jackets and the formality of her casual outfits, like every piece is making a statement.

Onyxsta says...BLEURGH!! As my style changes, time to wave farewell to the old and move on to the new, shedding old database baggage as well. Xisses

Sunday Shares - First in the Making...

**Soundtrack of the Minute - All Back : Chris Brown**
Hola Bleurgher Boos!! Got quite a good reception from my mini Sunday Shares last week so decided to jump in, head 1st, and make this a weekly dose of rants...BLEURGH!!
  • This picture was taken (on my iPhone4) from Friday's night out with my girlies and that was literally the last straw in my new found charm. Let me explain...the blonde is shedding like an alopecia patient not receiving treatment so I've been pulling my hair to the side a lot to disguise it until I B.I.Y some tracks next week. But it seems like this new hairstyle is some kind of dike-magnet!! And Friday night I seemed to be attracting a lot more girls than I was guys (even suffered injury as some chic was pushing me up against the wall in some dominatrix-like flex, that my hands grazed against the glitter decor...BLEURGHair)....like WTH??
  • Watched the infamous BlackBerry Babes lastnight and I was SO disappointed! After all the hype, I squeezed about one chuckle, and thats saying something...it was POOR script writing and Part 1 was completely useless if you ask me. That could have all been compressed into 10 mins...waste of life! Questionable marketing for BBs and social networking...but hey, whatever sells ey? :s One of my friends came up with the wittiest spin-off, 'Brazilian Hair Babes'! I seriously think that should be made cos with cheap companies and hair fares selling out with counterfeit quality hair all cos of some babes' quest to 'belong', I think that movie will be far more entertaining! Also, as the chic in the movie spent half the film in bendy rollers...it only makes sense to educate some mutherrrrs
  • My flatmate's out of Manchie this weekend...time for Onyx to come out and play! Got some sleepovers and lunch dates planned. *pencils in further plans*
  • WOO! Can't wait for 'The Only Way Is Essex' tonight!! I freakin' LOVE that show! It's not even a guilty pleasure, I actually LOVE it! Mark is just the sexiest thing to grace English TV since Ed Westwick! Gotta say, I have a thing for arrogant douches who are so into their own sex appeal that their noses smell of their own s**t. Sue me...
Onyxsta says....BLEURGH!! Sometimes some kind of regularity is good at sparking up a bit of spontaneity. Xisses

Last Night

**Soundtrack of the Minute - Let It Rain : Tinchy Stryder ft. Melanie Fiona**
My Twitter followers will know just how many movies I've gone through this week alone in my plea to detract the tears over the hiatus of most of my fave American shows *sobs*
One of the many I indulged in was an unpromoted (which still shocks me as it starred Keira Knightley and Eva Mendez) romantic movie called 'Last Night'. As usual, I'm not one for bait reviews, I'm more interested in the underlying message and its applicability in contemporary society and my life...

Cardigan : Primark (Menswear) | Military Waistcoat : Republic | Skirt : H&M
TShirt : Manchester Boutique | Bag : ZARA | Pumps : Urban Outfitters
In a fairly young marriage where both parties are contempt with one another, their careers, etc...but nothing more, what a lil temptation can do to tip the balance is worth noting. I guess one thing I've been meaning to BLEURGH about post-Year of the Husband is The 25 Plan (which is yet to come), but the idea that one meets their college (or in UK, Uni) sweethearts and decides to settle down not long after, and then spends the REST of their lives with that one person, to some...aww, to others....thats a scary arse concept! I'm not saying which boat I sail in but this movie clearly was.

Its a beautiful thing to find the one, but what does that mean for your future? No more adventure? No more wild nights out? I guess the same rules don't apply as when you were in a relationship...and you thought they would. Careers are put on hold to support the other (a la Melanie in The Game)...I just don't think the whole picture is fully in frame for young couples misled by the idealised romanticism portrayed in romcom after romcom...*sigh*

Rings : Topshop (Heart shaped); Miss Selfridge (various stacks)
Rosary Bracelets : eBay | Beaded Bracelets : H&M | Watch : Guess
I watched Adam Sandler's 'Go With It' before it and was shockingly surprised at just how much I enjoyed it. And to be plonked back to reality by 'Last Night' was a slap in the face....but a much-deserved slap. I guess we all want to live the romcom life where we are whisked off our feet by the man we love and is humorously compatible with us to a fault...but in reality, where does the humour stop and the satire begin?

Onyxsta says...BLEURGH!! The morning after last night leads to the day when your actions become consequences. Xisses

Oh To Be A Muse Ft. BLEURGH

Hola Bleurgher Boos. Wanted to share my feature on 'Oh To Be A Muse' with you guys...

Be sure to check it out and comment. I'm always so appreciative of Bloggers' constructive comments on my style as I feel like its still in a process of development.

Never done a 'Share Sunday' before and I know me and my issues with commitment so I wont even venture there but just wanted to BLEURGH a bit I guess...
  • Went out 3 nights in a row and my body clock is fully shattered, and the sun beaming in at early hours of the morning really doesn't help. I can't sleep with light so my body's going through hell!
  • Not too proud to admit it but I watched the Skepta 'All Over The House' music video and was appalled that he ever thought to make that video. I mean, there have been songs like JHoliday's 'Bed' or Tyrese's 'Signs of Love Making' so he can't even say its cos its what the song's about...thats just vile porn. There are tasteful ways and he just missed the memo completely! Anyway, he was at the club lastnight and I grabbed his toosh (I was curious) and it was juicy...and I also took a pic with the hoe in the video! JOKES!!!
  • Decided to quit linking new BLEURGH posts on my social networking sites (mostly Facebook and BBM as I don't have issues with Twitter, and I have Blogger followers there) cos I get SO shy when asked about why I do it, etc & I'm always asked the same question "so why link it then?"....makes sense. I've kinda decided to keep my blogger persona separate from the real world. I guess this way I can BLEURGH in peace...
  • Got an article to write for my Law School's paper thats due in today and I am yet to write beyond a paragraph because of procrastination....BLEURGH!!
  • I am yet to decide what I wanna do for my year out next year before my BPTC and time is running out. I feel like I'm grasping at threads now and I have no sense of direction
Onyxsta says...BLEURGH!! Hands of the clock move away from 12 only to end up right back. Perseverance is key, your time will come. Xisses

Good Girl Gone Bad

I've been called rude, obnoxious, talkative, funny, mean...but the word 'lovely' never springs to mind when describing me. So imagine my shock when not only one, but THREE bloggers gave me a 'One Lovely Blog' Award! Thanks to Stella Kodi from Chic Lounge ; Chizy K from Chizy's Spyware; and Pretty Lashes, I can add the word 'lovely' to my 'describe yourself' bar on application forms and Personal Profile tabs on social networking sites :)
"I may be bad but I'm perfectly good at it" Rihanna
Guess these awards are meant to help shed some further light on my personality and character to my readers...so I thought I'd share pictures of me out at night, which I never really do on here. These are not epic nights, just random student nights out so no fancy dresses here I'm afraid. As I said, I'm not really 'lovely' so I thought I'd take a spin on it and share 7 naughty facts about myself & my past...
Satchel : Oasis | Blazer : H&M | Croptop (tucked in) : H&M
Belt : Primark | Skirt : H&M | Heels : Red Herring (Debenhams)
1) Once when I was little, and my dad went away on a business trip and left me in the custody of my uncle for the weekend, he brought a girl round to 'pose' in our house. After asking to be bribed for a few favours of which he refused coldly, on my father's return, I g'd him up....NICELY! Don't mess with me hoe!
2) When I was still below Primary in Nigeria, I hated the packed lunch my mother would make. Sadly when I ran out of inventive ways of ridding of it (stuffing it in toy boxes and binning it in gutters), I stumbled upon a brilliant get-rich scheme with my tutor where she'd pay me to buy sweets and I'd trade her my lunch. For like a fortnight straight, she got stingy and wouldn't cut me a fair deal so I g'd her up...NICELY! She got a good talking to from my mother....although, quite sadly, the packed lunches continued and funding for break snacks stopped *sigh*
Playsuit / Romper : Topshop (Lingerie Section) - Featured on the Pasttime Bliss
Heels : Red Herring (Debenhams)
3) In Year 5 in Nigeria, there was a new wave of after-school societies that weren't academically orientated but more philanthropic-centred. So at first, I joined Brownies and that was all fun, and games and BLAH! Then the Red Cross, First Aid uniforms came in and after seeing the cute berets and naval themed cute dresses, I was sold. So I faked this and that lie and switched...NICELY!! LOL
4) In Year 8 in High School, I had a Geography teacher who had Parkinson's and we used to call 'Shaky Stephens'. Now, I'm not proud of this and did have to bear the consequences of my actions but me and my 'friends' saw him struggling with his dinner tray one lunchtime and decided to run across and knock it out of his hand. As we ran past, he spotted my nike drawstring bag (a signature of the cool kids in year8) and reported me. I went home and concocted a tale of NO SENSE to my mother (who obviously knew I was lying) and when she got that phone call....BOY! I got told off...NICELY!
Boobtube (actually a skirt) : Bershka | Skirt : H&M | Heels : Red Herring (Debenhams)
5) My mother was a tad on the strict side growing up, and with all my friends being allowed out, I got impatient with her rules. This was Upper Sixth so it was 'Sweet 18's' season left, right and centre and I was tired of making up this and that excuse of why I couldn't attend. So for my friend's party in Balham, I lied to my mother that I was going to visit my sister in Wales (which infact, I was, but not until the next day) and partied it up...NICELY!
Shirt : Primark | Leather-look Leggings : Berska | Heels : Barratts
6)  I tried out and was successful in gaining a spot on my University's Law Netball team. On the day of practice before the big game, we had a gruelling friendly match and having neglected sports all through Sixth Form, I was more unfit for a full-time match than a fatkid tryna run from second place to the front of the queue at Krispy Kremes. I couldn't do it so I faked an asthma attack and bailed on the team....NICELY!
7) Skype sessions with some rather liberal friends of mine were NOT as funny to me as they were to them. So when they decided to be naughty, I got snap happy with stills (and what, we in our family call "political blackmail"). Little did I expect my laptop to break down and my brother to be the sole beneficiary...thank God it was never revived, for their sakes. Or those photos would have been leaked....NICELY! (see a pattern guys? LOL)

Although rules are made to be broken, I'm gonna conform and pass this award on to 15 of my Bleurghsessions. Now you guys can either choose to share naughty/ nice facts...up to you, but let us in:

Early Bird

Hola Bleurgher-Boos! I'm so chuffed about the positive responses I received from the last post and how many of you wanna try it....makes me feel so happy to see you guys happy, danka danx xx. If you do 'The Turban BIY', please do try and send links via email or as Bleurgh backs cos I wanna see :) like a proud mummy LOL.
I'm a midnight vixen, lady of the night, a lady nocturnal...that's just how I've always been! But ever since I got back from Wales, i've gotten used to waking up at the crack of dawn (for us students, thats not 6am, but more like 8am)...LORDIE! I KNOW! But 'cos of this early bird syndrome I've caught, I've also been sleeping pretty early too.
Blazer : Miss Selfridge | Leopard Print Top : H&M | Trousers : Croydon Market
Anywho...I got up this morning feeling revived and got SO much done before it even hit midday (can you believe I used to think midday was 3pm? and noon was 12...I know! DOH!). As I had so much time to burn, what with these excess daytime hours and all, I decided to shoot my 1st ever OOTD. I remember when I first started blogging and kept clocking those abbreviations EVERYWHERE, and felt enlightened when i figured it out all by myself! I've decided to change the 'Outfit Post' tags to 'Onyxstyle' so if you click on that tag at the bottom, you can pretty much see all my outfits dating back to the beginning of BLEURGH lol.

After these shots, with the lovely shading from the bricks, etc....I found it quite hard to get anymore good shots. But being the quirky ol' fellow I am, I asked this chic who was blissfully watching the ripples in the stream on the canal by my apartment, her name was Kazia. She was more than happy to get a lil tigger-happy LOL.
Here's a link to my YouTube talk-through OOTD. Don't forget to rate (like), comment and subscribe Bleurgher-Boos :)
Onyxsta says...BLEURGH!! Early to bed, early to rise; but all it takes is one bad night and this pattern dies. Xisses
P.S.
Dunno if you guys have noticed but I switched up a few things on the page. Do let me know what you think....tryna get my head around Photoshop to switch up my banner so if any of you are bigger tech-geeks than me, please BLEURGH at me! (Art whizzes are also welcome) Also, I put up my BLEURGH Awards, although I am yet to dedicate a post to my latest but that'll probs be next. Thanks SO much for all the support guys, its truly appreciated. Uber-Xisses

The Turban

I really have loved the turban from a few seasons ago when it first graced the catwalks, but I didn't wanna look like a dick rocking it with Jesus sandals, exotic tie-dye maxis and ethnic beads...that was all too Gok'd for me tbh. But the revival of the turban this season sees it more wearable and casual....something of what a beanie is for winter, a MUST-HAVE.
Jacket : ZARA | Skirt : H&M | Tights : (red tights as base) Primark and fashion tights (Primark)
Head Candy (B.I.Y. Turban) : H&M | Cardigan : Primark (MensWear)
Belt : Primark | Batwing Tank : Blue Inc | Flats : H&M
Arm Candy
Nails : 2True Orange Base + Barry M 'Cracked Nail' Effect | Rings : H&M & Claires'
Watch : Guess | Rosary Wooden Bracelet : eBay
As you all know, I love my head candy! So I thought the 1st B.I.Y (Bleurgh It Yourself) I'd do on here would be for a makeshift turban. And as much as I love the YouTube community, I just didn't wanna follow the flock and do a HowTo video...so here's how to make one...in my favourite form...
PICTURES!
Disclaimer : I apologise in advance for the weird faces and awkward eyes in some shots...also, I used Blanche to take the pics so the quality is relatively lower than you're used to.
Step 1 : Get an UBER long scarf
Step 2 : Fold the scarf in half
Step 3 : Place the centre of the scarf on your head
Step 4 : Wrap the 2 ends around each other at the back (DO NOT TIE)
Step 5 : Twist the remaining flap of scarf (repeat on other flap)
Step 6A : Wrap both twisted ends together
Step 6B : Wrap twisted ends twice for a 'turban' effect
Step 7 : Swing the remaining flaps to the back (tuck if scarf flaps are finito)
Step 8 (Optional) : Swing remaining flap to front and tuck (ONLY if scarf flap remaining)
VOILA!

Ashy Wednesday

My post actually has nothing to do with the title, other than acknowledge what today is. I was in Wales, staying at my sister's over the weekend and we took a roadtrip to Liverpool on Sunday (sorry for the delayed post) and OMG, can I just take the timeout to say just how hott the ladies there are? :o
WOW! Liverpudlians ALL try...its easy to spot the laidback looking visitors cos all the girls there pretty much look like real-life mannequins! INSANE! Sadly, I was far TOO busy indulging in some retail therapy myself and oogling them, that I didn't have the time to get snap happy and take some street style pics for you guys...but I trust you can take my word for it.
I apologize in advance for the picture OVERLOAD...BLERGH!!
Scarf : (borrowed from **sister) | Checkered Shirt : River Island (MensWear)
Belt : **Mother's | Trousers : Chiara Fashion | Pumps : (borrowed from **sister)
ROADTRIP! I was amazed by the structure of the bridge...just one of the few things I picked up from my ex who studied architecture.
Liverpool One...LOVE this Shopping Centre (In England, we don't really say 'mall')!! Its like an indoor format with escalators, etc...but outdoors!
Dunno why I was so entranced by these poles *crickets* but the colours.... :)
Doesn't Liverpool look like Paris or Rome or something? You'd never guess it was in dead ol'UK LOL! My GodMother also lives there so we paid her a visit and she gbalum'd (gave me money) me some dosh so I left the city with some fond memories....YAY!
Made a YouTube video of my finds and what I gave up for Lent so be sure to check it out. And don't forget to rate, comment & subscribe (yes, I'm an actual youtuber now, using the lingo and all sorts LOL) And check out my channel:

Rite & Wrong Way

Oh Lordie! Pardon me, do not mean to spit thy name in vain but WOW! In Wales atm, visiting my sister who lives here and this place is my haven, as you guys know. She lives just a spit-throw (apologies for the constant mention of spit) from the beach and Pontins and its always great fun coming up here.
Cineworld in Llandudno Junction
Went to see 'The Rite' starring Anthony Hopkins lastnight and OMG....its a MUST SEE! You may think, "oh bloody hell girl, is everything a 'must see'?" but trust me, if you knew the amount of movies I watched in my spare time, compared to the ones I actually bother to share, you'd retract that statement asap. LOL
I guess, in a world ridden with increasingly erotically charged images before watershed, not to mention the pre-occupation the public has with the devil's inherent message in secular music and the overtake of Freemasons *yawn*....Its a relief to see a movie driving at something further than the power of the devil. Raised under a very religious household, with my mother now dedicating her life to serving God as a vicar, I have always had strong religious beliefs. However, like I always say, you believe in things and then reality sets in.
Its so cool how everything is written in both English & Welsh here
At a rather naive point in my life, I could have stood before you and condemned this and that with vigour and pizazz...but I guess as I went through life and the temptations and hurdles that are tossed my way, and those strong beliefs tended to fade and in place, was doubt and proverbs. The Rite is a BEAUT of a movie from its seat-jumping exorcist scenes (I'm no scaredy cat so I didn't flinch once) to its factual depictions of a faithful man's fall from grace. Its a breath of fresh air to be dealt a movie with such strong religious connotations and walk out without confusion or doubt, not feeling spoon-fed either.
Its weird that the more you question, the greater the doubt; and the greater the doubt, the stronger the pull of faith to God is. Don't you ever think about the atheist in doubt, at their lowest point, who still humbles (most probably, subconsciously) themselves to cry out "Oh God!" Like, why though? I guess God works best when our pride is at its lowest and our hunger for His grace, is at its peak.
After the movie, my sister decided to take a drive up THE scariest hill EVER!! At one point, she had to pause at a bend and the way I was blagging that I wasn't shook cos the car was almost rolling back into the bushes and to our death....BOY!! When we got up to the top of Gwaen Ysgor though, it was worth it!! The lights stretch all the way to Liverpool on one side and the port of Chester on the other. What a beaut? But I gotta say, that experience was WAY scarier than the actual movie itself...
Happy Sunday!
