2010 - Curtain Call

**Soundtrack of the Minute - KUSH : Dr DRE ft Snoop Dogg & Akon**
As you know from last year, I spend the evening of New Years' eve thanking God for the past year and praying over the new year with our annual vigil. Daddy makes his infamous peppersoup (he only ever ventures into the kitchen twice a year) and we all take that, with french bread and some wine....*sigh* I love my family, they truly are my strength, foundation and my backbone.
How I choose to spend the day, however, is up to me...this year I went to the much raved-about restaurant, 'Cosmo", with my 8Ballers for a fabulous buffet meal (ONLY £7) and long-overdue bants LOL....I miss those suckers already *sobs*
My starters (Top left) was BEYOND tasty and the main meal (bottom left)...*belly rumbles from memory* was YUMMY! The dessert (Bottom right) was the only failing factor in the recipe for success...
I am SO grateful for great friends, they are my rock! I have no doubt we will all make our marks in this world. As **Jewelz acclaimed today, "we are all geniuses" so I have no doubt that as some of us graduate in 2011, there is a lot we have to offer, so....WATCH THIS SPACE
This year (2010) has really made me appreciate basics like a great social network and family. Friends are the family we choose for ourselves! And although some of us have that confused and think a great network is a matter of number...I learnt that, as much as we dislike that random Uncle who gags at our friends all pervily or always begs for money from our parents and all you wanna do is cut them off, why then would you want a 'friend' that also fits that bill? A friend isn't a word I use loosely anymore. The friends I count on my list are no joke...these are the whores that will always have my back and I know I can always count on them....no two-facedness or tomfoolery. My **Hobos; **8Ballz; **Wammies...they know who they are. I love you guys!!
Me & **Hansonex doing the signature BLEURGH to a work of art made of custard cremes
My darling **8Baller **Jewelz got me the Lauren Conrad Style book from my BLEURGH WishList
2010 was the year I learnt the most about myself. I recently received the greatest compliment from a friend who said "I'm losing myself and I thought of all the people I know that have always stayed true to themselves no matter what people thought...and I thought of you"! That means the world to me as I've always been self-conscious about people not accepting my quirkiness, bluntness or as many have called me...just straight "weird". But the people in my life, who know me...truly...know that "you either love me or leave me alone" (Jay Z - Already Home)

BLEURGHair

**Soundtrack of the Minute - Collared Greens And Cornbread : Fantasia**
EEEK!! I got my hair done today! I always feel nervous the night before a new do....uber-excited in the morning....and either tearful or exceedingly satisfied in the evening. Luckily, this time, my emotions fall into the latter category. To the disappointment of a few, there will be no embarassing video of me prancing around excited at the new do....*BLEURGH*
The journey started last Christmas when I spotted that pic of Ciara (top left) with bleach blonde lo-lights in her hair! I was in LOVE but gave the idea to my cousin...sadly her crop didn't quite turn out as planned so that put me off for a WHILE! Then last month, in my moments of boredom, I became addicted to Wendy Williams show and in this clip with Raven Symone (top right), I fell in love with lo-lights again. I saw this 'Ombre' post on my new BLEURGHSESSION - Ring My Bell what I have also been in love with for months on Lauren Conrad (click on the link and check it out)....so it was a done deal!
I've wanted a short crop since forever, its just....it never quite looks like that (LeToya Luckett - bottom left) on me (bottom right) so I gave up the 12" dream
That was all until I rekindled my BLEURGHSESSION for Norwegian Blogger UlrikkeLund & discovered the joys of a 'long bob'. Question was...centre or side?
After a LONG day (ok I'm a diva so over 3hours is long for me...and I know my hairdresser is good with customer service so apologies for this bad review*bows head in shame*) at the salon, I was unprepared to sit through and dictate what length and how layered I wanted my crop to be. PLUS, everyone that knows me, knows just how anal I am about my hair....so I always style the cut myself. I left the salon with 14" and when I got home, I got to work...
 End result...*swish*
Apologies for the poor lighting but BLANCHE was my photographer for the evening as my camera battery is charging in prep of FELA! tomorrow with the family....eek!
Onyxsta says...BLEURGH! Whether its a mop or a crop, hair is my beauty secret & I will never stop. Xisses
P.S.
I give credit to my inspirations and the links to their blogs or websites are always highlighted in red so PLEASE check them out! :) Also, I leave tags at the bottom of all posts to link back to related posts and the newest (BLEURGHair) now has other links so dont hesitate to check my every changing mop-head LOL

Merry Day...

**Soundtrack of the Minute - 10 Seconds : Jazmine Sullivan**  Ankara dress : Gift from brother on his Nigerian placement last summer | Neck Candy : Claires' | Cardigan : ??
Arm Candy : Guess / Miss SelfridgeHad such a lovely Christmas with family today...Got the family tickets to FELA for the 29th so expect a post :)
Sad news being, with everyone growing and having their own responsibilities...not everyone can make it. I feel like crying cos I bought it, hoping to have more family fun but I guess all that has to be scheduled months in advance these days *sigh*
The table set for the main course...*sigh* GOOD TIMES!On to good news! I loved my pressies cos my family actually paid attention to BLEURGH!! My brother traipsed around MAC tryna get Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday lipstick only to discover it was a limnited edition product, only available online *sigh*. And my dad made his way around the maze (known to us shoppaholics as home, or to the masses as the shopping mall) to find the perfect statement jewellery/ camel wedges/ fragrance...I loved all my gifts!! :)
I got Lauren Conrad's books, the Laureen Swarovski ring I wanted on my Birthday Wishlist, Camel lace-up wedges, Paco Robanne Lady Million Eau De Perfum, Cuff Bracelet, Snug knitwear, Cute soft-brown leather bag, Praise Worship compilation :)
Merry Christmas Dolls!! Hope all of you had a great day filled with family fun, great food and lots of laughter!! Xisses

Dear Santa...

** Soundtrack of the Minute - Save Me : Nicki Minaj **

Reminiscing with my flatmate about what Christmas was like as a kid in Naij where we didn't get gifts but went shopping with daddy to get new dresses and shoes and BAGS!! HEAVEN!! And the tradition continued when we came here and had the annual Bluewater trip. But I don't  feel that warm fuzzy BUZZ like I used to when I was a kid....I've realised that I'm not so much looking forward to the gifts and carolling etc as much as family fun and Wii tournaments. Coming from a family where I am the youngest, and for YEARS, I was the only one home, waiting for my older siblings to return....to years like this where everyone gathers from their different parts just to share this special time together. I can't wait...

But thats not to say I'm not excited about pressies...and in my usual kiddie manner, here's the long-awaited Xmas wishlist

Camel Peeptoe Wedges
I have wanted these for the LONGEST and i think 'tis truly the season!! Also want lace-up fully-covered wedges too...camel ofcourse :)
Statement Ring
I want an expensive ring that I can cherish and wear everyday and know its symbollic of someone or a moment. I am in LOVE with F. Thats my style...
The only other time I will get to say this is on my engagement or wedding so a girl can only wish...
MAC "Pink Friday" Lipstick
I have never been a fan of dark coloured lipcandy...it just doesn't suit me. Red makes me look like that inappropriately dressed over-middleaged Aunty at family shindigs that flirts with all the prepubescent boys? YER! NOT pretty...so atm I am totally in love with frosted pink or nude lips and this tint is to die for
 Butt Pads
As we were on the topic of Nicki Minaj...I guess I'm tired of being the black girl with no booty. And it doesn't help that I'm in a clique of big bootied lasses...so I am succumbing to peer pressure and getting some faux-junk in the trunk!! I want a Kardash-ass or a Minaj-derrier!!
Kardashian Konfidential
As we are on the topic of Kim K booty...I am OBSESSED with the Kardashians (Khloe most especially as I relate to her loud mouthed and obnoxious personality the most) and would LOVE to have a copy of their 1st book. I haven't aided to their ever growing wealth thus far as I don't even watch KUWTK on E! but online so ratings mulla is not from me. And I haven't bought Kim's perfume, QuikTrim or whatever blah Kris is tryna push her kids to endorse so....LOW ME this one!
 Jay Z's Decoded
More books...I have stalked this book ever since he mentioned it was in the works and cried when he left lil cookie crumb trails for fans stateside to grab early releases and chances to meet him....YUP! As you know, I'm a Jigga Wifey to the death! Remember the MACBOOK I'm scribing from is his spawn (Blanche Cartier)? I love him and need to read this poetic masterpiece...hardback ofcourse!
  Brazilian Hair - 12"
I HATE the brazilian/ Indian hair Nigerian wave but to be honest...when u pay near £40 everytime to buy hair and you change your hair and style as often as I do...something's gotta give. I have realised that long hair doesn't really suit me after reverting to it this summer so my next crop is what Norwegian Blogger ulrikkelund calls a "long bob"...12"... Hit up the Good Hair girls for my order *sniggers*
Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf
Paying homage to the Late great....and plus I have obsessed over this scarf for FAR too long and if I don't put my Chanel dream on here...I HAD to put this baby down :)
DiddyBeats
Being the tech freak I am, I fell in love with these trying them out in the AppleStore on one of my numerous visits. Seriously, I NEED them in my life...no joke
Lauren Conrad's entire book collection...in Hard Back
I dunno WHY I've waited this long to grab a copy but I want the ENTIRE trilogy including her new style book
Anyone that knows me, knows just how OBSESSED I am with LC. If you remember when I started my red 'Hamsa bracelet' rage? Well...twas cos of her. And as white as she is, and as black as I am, I still take photos of her to the salon as inspiration. Yes...obsession

HOBO

"Remember those walls I built? Well, baby, they're tumbling down. They didn't even put up a fight, they didnt even make a sound" Halo - Beyonce

I've been overcome with uncontrollable emotion lately...its unexplainable. I guess when you're an emotional retard like me, who finds it HARD to share whats truly wrong (although if you're close enough, I'll let you in that there IS something wrong)...dealing with things becomes a chore. I've become some sort of expert at compressing my emotions until they bubble to the top and instead of silkily frothing, they volcanically erupt with a fiery lava of rage or tears...
Scarf : H&M (£3 on Sale) | Oversize Shrug : Lipsy (eBay) | Dress : H&M | Leggings : Promod (Milan Store)
Wellies : HUNTER (21st Birthday Present from *Tee)
Coat : Bershka | Bag : Berhska (Milan)
The regular human would adhere to the infamous proverb, "a problem shared is a problem halved" and divulge their innermost thoughts over some Cookie Dough icecream with their BFFs. Nope, not me. I Vleurgh/ write it down until I can *sigh*

Yup...my emotions are  a hobo...no true home. To me, housing them means not only placing trust in people that are fallible (face it, only God is perfect), but sharing a part of me...my heart...my personality. Placing my feelings under the shelter of a communal home (friendship) means fully signing that contract binding both parties, failure or breach = liaibility ("lawyer'd"). And from bad friendships in the past, I know that damages are not always paid upfront and the injured party (me) goes on...burnt.

Boots (rolled down) : Barratts
Snood : Primark | Fingerless Gloves (covert to mitten option) : Dorothy Perkins (£7 OneDay Sale)
At the end of the day, no man is an island. And no matter how long I've longed for something, when I finally get it...I feel ill-prepared to deal with it. The only way to feel fully prep'd I guess is to allow others to be my balance...a tripod isnt one without 3 legs right? What I decided from this morning was to welcome change with open arms...retrace my footsteps to my New Years' Resolution...become more 'open'.

Animal Out The Sack

**Soundtrack of the Minute - Moment 4 Life : Nicki Minaj ft Drake**
It's been a whole week since I last blogged and that's cos I've been busy, busy, busy! Whats changed right? LOL
The weekend just gone was my good friend **Toy's Birthday and twas SO much fun to just leave the Uni stress behind and just let my hair down (well, whats left of it as on Friday, I left my already short crop in the hands of my friend **JABbie and let her have her way with scissors...eek!)...

I am currently infatuated with animal print this season. I've never been a big fan as it nostalgically pulls me back in a time warp to the Spice Girls 'girl power' era where, due to my race, I was always forced to be Scary Spice *shivers*
But nothing seemed more fitting for the night of NO INHIBITIONS than a leopard print attire. I wanted to be free and as crazy as I'd never been... so I set out on a mission (just like last year's 'The One'...funny how its always for **Toy's birthday that I mercilessly hunt) to find the perfect dress...
I was so open minded! Tried on strapless, mesh chests, assymetric...THE WORKS...and still nada! ZILCH! Then pazam...I walked into H&M and instantly fell in love with the leather strapless corset and my eyes met a graphic-leopard print skirt, and the rest was a match made in retail heaven (i have SERIOUS issues LOL)
Clockwise From Top Left : Strapless - BANK | Assymetric : BANK | Longsleeve : BANK
Assymetric : Miss Selfridge | Ruffle Shoulder : BANK | Strapless (converted from a mesh chest) : H&M
I really liked my makeup...if I can say that without sounding conceited or too vain *blush*...I did a gold and bronze with charcoal black smokey eye *dribble*...really trying to experiment with my face and learning contouring so stay tuned :)
 Leather Corset : H&M | Graphic Leopard Print Skirt : H&M
Arm Candy : Miss Selfridge / Guess | Peeptoe Boots : Barratts | Patent Snakeskin Clutch : **JABbie's
Jacket : ZARA (not actually leather but viscose)

Onyxsta says...BLEURGH! The cat's out the bag so what's the point keeping the animal caged? Quit being a sheep and own up to being your own shepherd...embrace the leopard. Xisses
