Runaway from the Runway

**Soundtrack of the Minute : What's My Name - Rihanna ft Drake**
I am one of those Kanye fans who love to hate him. But I have to say, as one of the leading men of the Rosewood movement, my hate is slowly turning to sheer admiration for the dude. He epitomises the ‘real man’ of the 21st Century!
Don’t get me wrong, I will always and forever be a JayZ wifey to the death….but Kanye brings his game on another level. The tailored suits, or the forever shaped-up mane (yes…I am OBSESSED with a clean shape-up…anyone who knows me can testify), the way his surgically constructed jaw hangs when he’s caused an unintended raucus or my fave of them all, the energy and passion in his eyes when he’s talking about something he loves…

So needless to say, I was one of many who added @kanyewest in the first few mins of him having a Twitter account, and one of many who weren’t able to view his “Runaway” video on MTV/ BET on Saturday evening (cos I was watching XFactor but mostly cos I don’t actually have Sky **sobs**) and caught it as soon as he posted it on his website, www.kanyewest.com
I am in LOVE with colour and this video oozes it. To say I was lost at the start was an understatement, but at the middle with the theatrical ballet and the subliminal messages like the Michael Jackson parade or the all white servants to an all-black dining party, I too had to raise a glass and toast the Master of the Douches! He is an absolute genius!! The end is beautiful with the message of a need for individuality in a society saturated with copies and mini-me’s (as much as I love Willow Smith, she kinda freaks me out as a mini-me of Rihanna) and the freedom of the abnormal in order for us to pursue our own journey…I dunno if its just me being weird and connoting far more than Kanye intended (blame it on far too many years of anthology annotations in English Literature lol) but I love the theme of love lost and the journey to self-discovery

YeYe says...BLEURGH! On this journey of self discovery, don't be afraid to runaway from spotlight of the runway...Xisses

P.S.
Just finalised my 21st Birthday plans...9th November btw. Going away to Milan, Italy...can't wait to breathe in fashion and modern Italy :)
Next Post will most probably be my Wish List...can't wait...EEK!

P.P.S
An apartment tour is LONG overdue but I'm trying to find time to either edit the private video I shot or tidy up the flat for a brand new tour...COMING SOON xx

Unlucky Strike...Gamu OVER!

**Soundtrack of the Minute: Drake - Fall For Your Type**

Ok...so I know its a tad overdue and well, her drama is totally last season but anyone who's a Twitter freak like me went NUTS at the rejection of Gamu from XFactor! It was such an outrage that Cheryl Cole received death threats, malaria curses and several incantations from my personal Dibia/ Babalawo LOL
But seriously...the Gamu Saga as it has now come to be referred to, is only one in a long line of racially charged claims in showbiz of late....

I am a total fan of 'Vanity Fair' magazine...its no Vogue, but every year they do a Hollywood issue which I am obsessed with trailing and spotting who I know etc. This obsession started with their Young Hollywood issue featuring Raven Symone, the Olsen twins, and triggered my obsession with all things glitz and glam...

This pretty much had everyone I was obsessed with in my teens and cemented my Disney addiction...from then on, I was a crazed follower
Amanda Bynes; Olsen Twins; Mandy Moore; Hilary Duff; *Chic from Gillmore Girls; ??; Raven Symone; Lindsay Lohan

But I didn't just bring this up to reminisce and flick back to days of old...its just that the newest issue had so much drama attached to it, I felt it was wrong not to delve in LOL

SO....This is the "all white" cast of 2010. The future of showbiz is white? I dunno why there always has to be a race issue...I mean, I'd rather there were none than a token.

Sorry couldn't find 2006's... :(

2008

The much talked about 2010 issue

Looking back at them now...I guess they truly reflect Hollywood's leading men and women at that time. I mean, where were the Late 90's without Julia Roberts and Leonardo DiCaprio? Or the early Noughties without teen flicks like Cruel Intentions' Reese Witherspoon or American Pie's Chris Klein? And the minorities...the sultry latinas like Selma Hayek and Penelope Cruz (who truly didn't shoot on my radar until she started dating Tom Cruise btw)....I mean an action movie in the late 90's without Will Smith as the hot comic mess-up wouldn't have been the same.

But I feel like we ALWAYS play the race card! What black chic or dude is REALLY making a difference enough to be on the cover? The chubby wubzie with a soulful voice from Glee or perhaps the punk hair'd confused jock wannabee playing Dixon in 90210? I mean...perhaps Keke Palmer, but after 'graduating' but still struggling to read a teleprompter at the VMA's....I have doubts for that one. I think before we start making a big hoo-ha about inequality and racism still being rife in present society, we should take a chill pill and take a GOOD look at everything. (I mean...just throwing it in here but the Gamu-Gate rejection only occured cos she was illegally here...DEPORTATION justifies Xfactor...soz)

YeYe says...BLEURGH!! Quit playing the race card...GAMU OVER! Xisses

P.S.
Happy 21st Birthday to 2 of my **8Ballerz Lolli from Lolli Hearts and the original YaaYaa in my life. LOVE YOU GUYS!!

Diary of a Shoppaholic

** Soundtrack of the Minute - JoJo : Can't Take That Away (Mixtape) **
I sadly missed London Fashion Week as my schedule took a turn from hectic to manic as I quit my summer job and life in London and packed my bags for my final year in University of Manchester! Trying to sort out final arrangements on our new shared apartment...GORGEOUS...while living life as a hobo is NOT fun, I can tell you. So i turned to the shops for solace and also, inspiration for autumn as I missed the LFW shows...ok, who am I kidding?
So here I was a few days ago, more than a respectable amount of shopping bags in tow heaving with some proud purchases as I burst into YaYa's room, beaming...
"Wanna see what I bought?" I exclaimed
Sadly, I didn't quite get the ecstatic reaction I had longed for. Instead I was welcomed with disappointment and slight disgust at yet another unnecessary shopping expedition.

So here goes...Hi, my name is YeYe and I'm a shoppaholic
Apparently in the AA (or in my case, S.A.) programme, there are 12 steps until one can fully recover from their...erm...addiction? But as I looked past acceptance to a stage where I will have to withdraw from shopping for perhaps...I don't even know HOW long, I almost burst into tears (not literally ofcourse *blushes*)
I'm so ashamed that within a week, I can't even take a picture of my proud buys as they wont all fit into one frame (Oooh! my new 14 megapixel camera is actually also part of my new purchases)...but I will try and include a pic in there sometime :)

I updated my friend **Abbiboo on my purchases & she said "well, you need to keep buying stuff to take cute pictures on your Bleurgh" so after claiming it was to make up for missing LFW or to cure the depression of being homeless for the 1st few days of my move or to mark my transition from working woman to studious student, I think her excuse is the best thus far *sigh*
