CHANGE...

Before I get to the Bleurghing part and the theme of this entry...I thought it only polite to say...

And ofcourse do the regularities such as my past outfit posts...

This was on one of our many Girls' Nights Out (this particular, was an ACS event) towards the end of the semester, and just like every other random night, twasn't great...AT ALL!
Me: Blazer = Miss Selfridge
Dress = Primark
Heels = Miss Selfridge
YaYa: Blazer = Primark
Dress = Vintage
Heels = Primark
Glass of Alcohol in hand....PRICELESS (lol)

Rolling with the theme of this bleurgh entry, this outfit was switched up twice in one day, just like anyday I have a break in between an outing.
Beret = Primark
Snood = H&M
Jumper = MK One
Leggings = ZARA
Scarf = TK Maxx
Cardigan = Republic
Boots = Blink (Barratts)

For Winter, I am REALLY drawn to key statement pieces such as a snuggly snood or a pair of quality leather gloves or my favourite...a standout SCARF!
Long sleeve top = Primark
Dress = Republic
Scarf = gift from Rome, Italy (from my doll, **IzzI)
Tights = Primark
Boots = USC

Somedays, all a fashionista can do is just throw on an outfit and roll out!!
Wooly headband (a la Whitney Port) = H&M
Top = NEXT
Dress = Attic
Leggings = H&M
Boots = Primark

I have a whole file full of fashion inspired outfits for each day, and my latest obsession is Kim Kardashian. One thing I've been upset about though is that the Kardashians wear nothing but BLACK!! Their stylist Monica Rose is one track minded and this one day, I had to break free of that mould and bring some colour back in my life!!!
Tanktop = Primark
Dress = Republic
Cardigan = H&M
Tights = Primark
Shoes = Welsh store

Christmas Day
SOOO much fun!!! As mentioned below...

Leggings = H&M
Ankle Boots = George (My sister's)

WAM DAY OUT
Cardigan = Vero Moda
Dress (worn as top) = Attic
Skirt = Vero Moda
Tights = (Purple) Mk One (Black) Bhs

And now, for the feature presentation lol...

As much as I'd love to sit here and brag about the good family times I've had over Christmas, winning multiple games of Wii (UNDEFEATED!! Yeah thats right...I'm a champ, give credit), hilarious banter over old Nigerian Nollywood movies and getting STUFFED like a turkey with rice, turkey, dodo (TRANSLATION: Plantain in Yoruba), minced beef & Prawn sauce....I have to say that there's always someone thats never truly satisfied with your happiness and peace and is looking for an opportunity to get you down. At the moment, I'm recovering from an aftermath of an unprepared confrontation that I'd rather not relive...but I come as the bearer of great news! Their plans will surely fail and will NEVER be permanent. Go into the new year, free of such enemies of progress (LOL I sound like a Nigerian Pastor).

The recurring theme of 2009, thanks to President Barack Obama's successful campaign was...CHANGE! And this is a better time than any to look back on the rights and wrongs of the past year and amend them so we carry nothing detrimental to the coming year. Now, this is done differently for every individual. In my household, we make a big hoo-ha of it and hold our annual midnight vigil, praying and praising together, bringing in the New Year as a family. Others booze up and get 'merry' with their friends and coworkers and share a midnight kiss with that ONE they hope to bring to their next year. But no one method is favourable above the other, to each their own right? (Or a saying along those lines lol)

Now, I have not had the best year thus far. Infact, I've deemed 2009 the worst year of my life with so many arguments, backstabbings, breakups, and lifestyle changes to last me an eternity, I think I'm about ready for a new year already! I haven't had the easiest of lives either, but nor has any of us tbh (TRANSLATION: To Be Honest) but what keeps me going, as hard as that may be, without breaking down and giving up, is knowing that at the end of the day...at the end of this battle...I have a purpose. I am unsure as to what that is yet, but to HELL if all this was for nothing!! There BETTER be a damned good purpose for all this crap that has been tossed my way, for SURE! Lol....

But something that struck me today amidst an enraged conversation with an 'agent' (inspired by the Matrix Trilogy...in this context, meaning anyone with an arm and a leg out ready to trip you up) is what may be perceived as change to others does not necessarily have to apply to you. I have gone my entire life with this particular agent poking and prodding, claiming I need to change this attribute or that characteristic to be deemed worthy of their acceptance. As I've reached the wise age of 20 **sniggers**, I have concluded that enough is enough!! I'm going to walk into the coming year with a new "ME" resolution list that I need not show to you for approval, and I'm going to better myself as only I see necessary.

YeYe says....BLEURGH! Change YOU in only the areas that YOU see need changing. Block out the pessimistic words of 'agents' and live only for yourself and not others. Happy New Year guys Xisses

(P.S. my sis really wants a mention and cos I love this chica so much...here's her input...
**Cidz: "Change is the most constant thing in life. Don't say I love you if you don't mean it...BLEURGH!")
Wise words from a very wise lady....or just random bleurghness?

The One

Whether its clothes, shoes or a man....The One is difficult as hell to find. For my friend's 21st, myself and YaYa decided to burden ourselves with co-ordinated dressing. Needless to say I paraded around town, not once but TWICE (the 2nd time being on my own and relying on excellent Group BBM technology to send pics & get girly feedback) to find the perfect Mono-Sleeved dress...You guys likey?

But then the search for the perfect dress got me pondering on my own current relationship situation. (I am a GREAT ponderer. And if I don't fill my day eating, sleeping or of recent, working....all I can stop but do is sit and THINK....think, think and rethink the last thought! BLEURGH!) So here I am...sitting....thinking....of finding the right 'fit'. I've never been one to be cliche'd or romantic to a fault. But in the same way the ONE dress doesn't pinch at the sides or sag, become unflattering to the shape or waver at an unbenign length. So also must the ONE guy/ girl not make you feel like crap, not make you question 'love', not make you regret the moments you've shared or make you become slightly psychopathically stalkerish (just finished "All About Steve"...good watch but not a must see lol).

Don't get me wrong. Just as I'm not a cliche'd romantic, neither am I a shameless feminist. I'm not claiming men are like dresses, where we can go into a changing room, try it on for fit and if we don't like it, be rid of it. Neither am i comparing relationships to a store's return or exchange policy where if things don't work out, nevermind, there's another product in store more fitting of your taste or ANY of the bull you may jump to concluding I mean. Instead, what I am saying is that there is ONE.....no, there is someONE out there for us. When one has Chris Brown slapped you in the face with bull, there is another that will re-instill hope of love in you.
I'm not saying love is a bed of roses (unless its Valentine's Day and your booboo surprises you with that....well then, that's a different story *winks*). What I'm saying is, life and love are about choices, and when you've made one, stick to it. If you want The One, don't settle for any less....if you broke up with her 'cos she cheated with one of your boys, DON'T take her back! If you wanted to be single and some guy sweeps you off your feet, don't take it as a 'sign'...remain SINGLE! If you had moral standings and religious beliefs and he/ she leads you to question them or tread on them....cut that person off, you knew where you were coming from PRE-loveblindess! Make a choice and stick to it.

YeYe says....BLEURGH!! Don't settle for No.2 when The One is out there, waiting in line. Xisses

Spoken word

I recently had an in depth convo with **Jewelz on the credibility of Floetry as musicians. I just never got into their music 'cos to me, they were a rip off of Lauryn Hill and Jill Scott...but HEY! To each their own...

But one thing she kept going on about was the power of "spoken word" and I wasn't amused as I don't rate it as music to just 'say in tone' a couple of words. I never purchased an R Kelly album after Chocolate Factory for that same reason. I mean, YES! Twas an excellent business venture to market the 'Trapped In The Closet' chronicles as a ghetto theatrical performance, but to put that on an album is a JOKE!

And joke...joke...joke it is. So much so that the QUEEN herself, Rihanna (as no one thinks she can sing...even though i LOVE her to death, I must agree slightly after seeing her performances one to many ear-bleeding times) made a mini mockery of her type of music in this SNL skit. I almost pissed myself laughing....hope we share the same sense of humour?!?

YeYe says...BLEURGH! Speaking is for poets, SING if you are a 'SINGer'!!

Introducing....YeYe QC

Hey hunnies!! As promised...here's a bombardment of the outfit posts I've missed.

Tights = MK One
Opaque Tights = Marks & Spencers
Boots = USC
Well that's been a week or so worth. But at this very minute, I am at home in London, lying on my oh so comfortable bed, soaking up the memories of today. It was AMAZING! I went for an Open Day at Brick Court Chambers and guys, i think I'm set!! I'm excited because now there is NO doubt in my mind that I want to go against my odds and break the glass ceiling set above me for both being a woman and a member of an ethnic minority group and become a member of THE BAR!!
I'm sooooo excited!! This is what I've ALWAYS wanted and now I feel like my time has come to take my rightful place in this world. SO much ish has happened as of recent that has turned me up & down, but today made me settle. I am adamant I heard a voice say "E Bia go nu" (Translation: You have come!)

Indecisions...Indecisions...Indecisions...
Well, what to wear on a day that could make or break my future? I turned to the runway ofcourse!
My inspiration? CHLOE! Remember my much sought after pegleg blogpost? Well, if you remember, I purchased them out of impatience, on ASOS and this felt like the right day to rock' em!!

Shirt = TM Lewin (my sister's...yes I borrowed it! Sorry x)
Pegleg Trousers = ASOS
Tights = Marks & Spencers
Pumps = Welsh Store
The Pupillage Fair was enlightening and I made some new friends. As Barristers are self-employed, networking is a skill I have to learn to love from now. Went home with a ton of Chambers brochures and a world of knowledge. I really did not know there were that many Chambers out there? Its literally like the Corporate Law firm fairs, but more in my line of interest. Its so sad that due to sponsorship and financial funding, Universities put their interests over their students', and choose to force-feed us that its Commercial Law or poverty. Its a lie guys....so get out there & get enlightened.
YeYe says....BLEURGH! Pull on your socks, lace up your trainers and prepare for the race of your life, cos you only get one shot to win....no heats, just finals! Xisses

We are breakable...

Having just finished one of THE greatest epsiodes of Gossip Girl, I was moved to write a post on human frailty and our innate vulnerability. I grew up always wanting to be one of the guys, playing Playstation or Sega mega Drive and even going as far as taking off my top after a good game of basketball with my brothers. But as i grew up and went through the woes of puberty, I was met with emotion and rejection that pushed me to near depression. "A bit much" some may quiver, but I'm only human and there are a THOUSAND other people that go through the same thing. But after a shitty string of useless and disloyal, I made the greatest friends for life, my Wammies and these heffaz taught me what true friendship's about.

Through them, i was able to make better judgements in the future of what kinda people are good for my system and who aren't. These "social networks" were defined by an ignorance of emotion and a denial of any real relationship or feelings I may have for them. But this Summer, one close friendship was threatened and as much as we fight it, we can't help but put our pride aside and go back, for pride comes before a fall.

I may just be bleurghing ish here... but GG made me see how far I have come emotionally. How, although I still fear letting my guard down 'cos I always end up hurt, there are people here in this world who love and support each of us, if only we give them an open heart to come in.

Seeing as I missed Music Monday...here's Ingrid Michaelson's Breakable. I actually first heard this on the soundtrack to one of my fave shows "The Hills" and I've been obsessed ever since. Enjoy!

(I will be posting more updates and outfit posts soon, just been hella busy.)

YeYe says...BLEURGH!! We are so fragile, we are breakable, but never fear that for there are always people willing to help pick up the pieces with you. Xisses
